BLC Day 21: Autumn Sweater Repair

Do you have that one garment in your closet which is your all-time favorite?  For me, it's my Autumn themed sweater which I bought it a Kohl's department store about 10 or 12 years ago.  I remember it was Spring and I was there undoubtedly purchasing something for my daughter - probably for Easter - when I spotted it hanging on a clothing rack marked 90% off.  Being a Michiganian, I appreciate and love being able to experience all 4 seasons, with Autumn being my favorite.  So, when I spotted this sweater priced at $3.90, I thought it was the score of the decade.  Imagine, then, my distress when I discovered a hole on its left elbow.

Snowy Stitching Sunday

Good Day Everyone!

It's been somewhat busy in my home lately, primarily with the return to work after the holidays, and I am almost ashamed to admit that I still need to take down my tree and decorations.  In my defense, I am waiting for family assistance because this is no longer a one-woman job.  So, it almost goes without saying that I've not been working on new sewing projects.  But I shared with you that one of the areas in which I want to be more consistent is my blogging, irrespective of any specific "sewing" projects on which I may be working. So, here goes...

We have quite a nice snow storm going this morning in Southeast Michigan, which always reinforces the desire to hunker down and stay indoors, as demonstrated by my furry sewing buddy.

Another Denim Repair

I've been busy working on clothing repairs for the past couple of days, with a desire to seriously pared down the number of items sitting in the Repair Basket in my Sewing Room.  This basket has a tendency to grow and I am admittedly slothful about clearing these items out, as evidenced from a picture I took in 2012.

I'm happy to say the basket is not as full now as it was then, partly because I've also been purging items that were not worth the effort of repairing.  One such item could easily be my daughter's favorite pair of Levi's.  Instead, I spent time today repairing them.

Beyond Distressed

Happy New Year!  I pray your Christmas was truly merry and your 2015 is off to a prosperous start.  It has been about 19 months since my last post and I kept telling myself "I have to publish a post! I have to publish a post!"  But, sometimes it seems there's never enough time or energy to do all the things you want.  With that said, I intend to maintain a more regular posting schedule - certainly shorter than every 18 months or so.  (wink)

Though my blogging activity has been stagnant, I have been busy in my Sewing Room and will soon share with you some of the things I've been doing while away, beginning with this project.

Easter Fix-Up

While out shopping with my family today, I bought this dress for my daughter.  We discovered about 2 years ago that she loves the black-white-pink color combination, so she was bound and determined to not fall into her color comfort zone again.  I tell her "Why fight it?  They're your signature colors - go with it!!"  We spotted this dress at Sears (yes...Sears!) and she tried hard to not love it, but it was useless.
