I constructed the lining and facing, pinned and then sewed them both to the skirt body. Everything looks good, right?
Wrong!! The skirt and lining were supposed to be sewn with right sides matching and the facing sandwiched between them. Instead, I have wrong sides matching with the skirt sandwiched between the lining and facing.
This construction prevents me from being able to understitch the lining/facing so they will stay on the inside of the skirt.
Worse yet, it creates major bulk in the seam area once the facing is turned to the inside of the skirt.
So disappointing! This is why you should never, ever...EVERRRRRRRR work on a project while fatigued! I will correct my mistake, but right now, I am feeling very Scarlett O'Hara-like...

OMG! I so can feel your pain! Been there, done that! Glad you're going to save it though, it looks like a beautiful skirt and I wouldn't want you to lose it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Myra...I'm really looking forward to its completion.
